Arsenal finish the season on a high

Arsenal had a rather dismal year. But they ended the season on a high after they defeated champions Chelsea 2-1 in the FA Cup Final on Saturday.

Arsenal were quick to come off the blocks and the newly crowned champions looked all over the place for the first 15 to 20 minutes. By the time Chelsea got a hold of the game, Arsenal had already gone 1-0 up. Alexis Sanchez was on the score sheet within the first 5 minutes with a rather controversial goal.

In the second half, Conte’s men were down to 10 men after Victor Moses was sent off by the referee.

Moses went down in the penalty box but the referee booked him for diving and furnished a second yellow card to the Nigerian. But Chelsea managed to dig deep and get an equaliser through Diego Costa. Costa brought the ball down superbly with his chest in the box before volleying it past the diving Ospina.

But their joy was however short lived. No sooner had they finished their celebrations, than Aaron Ramsey but Arsenal back in front with a fine header.

The Gunners could have easily added a third but Ozil hit the outside of the post with his shot after squaring up his defender.

Arsenal eventually held on to finish the match 2-1.

Sanchez played his final game?

Sanchez might have very well played his last game in Arsenal colours. The Chilean has been heavily linked with a move to German champions Bayern Munich in the summer.

And if it does turn out to be his last game then he surely has left a mark. He scored the first goal of the match in a rather controversial fashion. Sanchez pounced on a rebound ball and put it in the back of the net. But the linesman had flagged for offside thinking that Aaron Ramsey had intervened with play. But after consulting with the linesman the referee let the goal stand amongst heavy protests from the Chelsea bench.
