German club Borussia Dortmund have sacked their manager Thomas Tuchel with immediate effect.

After two seasons with the club, Tuchel has been removed owing to a rift with the players and also not being able to challenge Bayern Munich.

The 43-year-old German coach was appointed the manager of Dortmund in 2015 after Jurgen Klopp left the club. Klopp had a woeful campaign which saw Dortmund finish seventh in the league. And Tuchel was brought in to restore some normally amongst the club.

In his first season, the German had a more or less satisfying campaign finishing second in the league table. But this season things have not gone quite right for him. His team has finished third in the league 18 points behind champions Bayern. Even though he managed to win the DFB Pokal on Saturday but there was a serious issue amidst the celebrations.

According to reports, Tuchel was having conflicts with a lot of his first team players. And many of them had distanced themselves from the manager. Ultimately the rift grew so big that Tuchel had to vacate his position.

Players like Nuri Sahin, Schmelzer and even Marco Reus has serious issues with the manager. And it is one of the main reason as to why the BVB board had no other option but to release Thomas.

Borussia Dortmund released an official statement after the departure of their manager:

“We would like to thank Thomas Tuchel and his coaching staff for the sporting success at BVB, which reached a deserved climax last Saturday at the DFB Pokal final in Berlin against Eintracht Frankfurt. We wish Thomas Tuchel only the very best in his professional future.”

Now Dortmund have a rather important job of looking for a new manager.
