Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin has agreed to join La Liga side Valencia.

In spite of being with Arsenal for nine years, the defensive midfielder has never quite been able to cement his place in Wenger’s first eleven. After playing just 159 games for Arsenal during the eight seasons that he has been with the club, the Frenchman finally seems to be heading to Spain.

Premier League clubs like Crystal Palace and West Ham United were interested in signing up the 26-year-old but now it is being reported that 26-year-old has agreed on a £12m fee to join Valencia.

And Valencia have just announced the deal on their official Twitter handle – in a rather cheeky way.

On Wednesday Valencia CF posted a picture of a Valencia bag with the initials FC on it. The caption included a luggage and tick emoji which hopefully suggests that Coquelin has packed his bags to move to Spain.
