Former Arsenal star Gilberto Silva is helping to push through a move which will see Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred join current Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Fred is currently one of the most talked about midfielders in Europe and Pep Guardiola has already tried signing the 24-year-old during the January transfer window. The move did not go through as he did not want to leave Shakhtar while they are still playing in the Champions League.

But if reports are to believed then Man City will try and sign the midfielder during the summer and this time former Arsenal great Gilberto Silva is helping Pep Guardiola.

Fred was represented by Ronaldinho’s brother but recently Silva has taken over the reins and according to UOL Esporte’s Marcus Alves(as reported by the Mirror), Gilberto has already accelerated talks between the two parties.

As per the report, Fred has a “complete agreement” to move to the Etihad during the summer transfer window.

If Man City make the 24-year-old their first signing of the summer then their spending will go over the £500 million mark under the managerial era of Pep Guardiola.

Fred is currently playing his fifth season for the Ukranian outfit since joining from Internacional during the 2013-14 season. The midfielder has played 24 games this season across all competitions managing to score 2 goals.
