Jamie Carragher has certainly given the chair of best British manager to Brendan Rodgers. The former English centre-back had played under Rodgers who was formerly the boss of Liverpool and currently manages Celtic FC.
Rodgers took the Anfield giants to the 2nd place in the Premier League 2014. The closest any Liverpool manager has come to winning the league in recent years. But this season there is a chance of them finishing 2nd as currently, they are in the third position – just 2 points behind The Red Devils. Still, Carragher believes there is no one better than Brendan Rodgers.
During an interview on Sky Sports, the 40-year-old centre-back was asked his point of view on Rodgers or Klopp, with both having been in charge of the EPL side for at least 150 games. Carragher eventually picked Klopp – but not before defending current Celtic FC manager’s Rodgers’ record.
His answer was: “Yes, he’s the best British manager out there. It’s always seen as a dig at Brendan Rodgers, I actually think Brendan is the best British manager.”
“He at times is ridiculed, even sometimes by Liverpool fans on social media, ‘oh Brendan Rodgers has only done this’, ‘Klopp’s only done that’ as if Brendan Rodgers is the worst manager they’ve ever seen at Liverpool.
“Rodgers came closer than anyone to winning a league title.”
