Besiktas have rejected a €7 million bid from Arsenal for their captain Oguzhan Ozyakup – according to reports.

Ozyakup is an Arsenal academy graduate who joined the Gunners on schoolboy forms back in 2018 but the midfielder was unable to break into the first team setup as a result of which Arsene Wenger sold him to Besiktas in 2012 for just €500,000.

Now according to reports, Wenger has reignited interest in the midfielder and wants to re-sign him back from the Turkish outfit.

Wenger is reportedly looking at Ozyakup as a long-term replacement to Jack Wilshere whose current deal at the Emirates expires during the summer.

Like Wilshere, Ozyakup’s deal at Besiktas is also set to expire at the end of the current of the current season and according to Turkish outlet Aksam, the midfielder wants to return back to the Premier League.

Arsenal are said to be the favourites to sign the 25-year-old and has already seen a €7 million bid during the January transfer window.

But this rejection will not affect Arsene Wenger too much as Ozyakup is determined to head back to the Premier League once his contract with the Turkish club expires and Arsenal might land him for free during the summer.
