Manchester United transfer target Antoine Griezmann has not yet reached an agreement to join Barcelona for the next season according to his Atletico Madrid team-mate Filipe Luis.

Girezmann was Jose Mourinho’s biggest transfer target for the summer transfer window but a lot of factors meant that the French International had to stay back at Atletico Madrid for one more season.

Firstly the injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic late last season meant the Red Devils had to sign a replacement and that came in the form of Romelu Lukaku from Everton.

And then an untimely transfer embargo was slapped on Atletico Madrid meaning the La Liga outfit were unable to buy any new players until the January of this year.

As a result of these, Griezmann chose to stay back at Atletico and everyone expected him to join Manchester United this summer.

But a lot of things have changed during the past couple of months.

Barcelona have popped up as the favourites to land the French forward and many reports have also reported that Griezmann has already had an agreement to join the Catalans during the summer transfer window.

But now his current team-mate Filipe Luis has claimed that there is still no certainty that Antoine Griezmann will join Barcelona next season.

Luis told Marca: “He is a player who is far above the level of his teammates, and I am convinced that he has not made any decision to move (or not) yet,”

“At Atletico, he has a whole team playing for him and he is very happy. He is happy with the club and with the city, so I do see him here for many years.”

If there is any truth in the above statement then this might be a huge opportunity for Manchester United to give it another go at signing Antoine Griezmann during the summer.

But we feel that Jose Mourinho will refrain from buying another forward after bringing in Alexis Sanchez during the January transfer window. Rather his focus will be strengthening his midfield especially with the likes of Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini set to depart.
