Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann has rubbished reports claiming that he is in advanced talks with Barcelona over a potential move during the summer.

Griezmann was tipped to join Manchester United last summer but after that deal fell through there have been several rumours linking the French International with a move to Barcelona.

A couple of weeks back some Spanish reports had claimed that Griezmann’s representatives had entered advanced talks with the Catalan giants and his move to Barcelona was a matter of time.

When the 27-year-old was quizzed about these rumours he rubbished such claims but controversially added that he wanted to sort out his future before the World Cup in Russia begins.

Antoine Griezmann told Telefoot: “I don’t know where you get this information, but it is false.”

“I want to be free and think only about the French team,

“I would like my future to be settled before the World Cup, otherwise, afterwards, we will have questions to the right and the left. I will continue as I am now, giving everything to the club.”

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo had claimed in March that Antoine Griezmann is expected to honour the terms of his current contract until 2022 but now this statement from the Frenchman has created a lot of doubts and it is pretty evident that he wants to move out during the summer.

And this, in turn, is a great piece of news for Manchester United, who have been chasing Griezmann for ages now. The Red Devils have tried to sign the forward on multiple occasions during the past couple of season but without any success.

Last summer, United went the closest to signing Antoine Greizmann but an untimely transfer embargo imposed on Atletico Madrid meant that the forward had to stay back in Spain for one more season.

Now though Griezmann has made it clear that he had not agreed to join Barcelona next season meaning that Manchester United can once again revive their interest in the player at the end of the season.
