With each passing week, Chelsea seem to be hitting a new low under Antonio Conte, the latest one being a 1-1 draw at home against West Ham United this past weekend.

The Blues have suffered back to back defeats in the Premier League and are currently 5th on the league table – 10 points behind fourth placed Tottenham Hotspur.

After the embarrassing 3-0 loss at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur two weeks ago, everyone was hoping that Chelsea would make a comeback statement by picking up an emphatic win against the Hammers.

And they started the same in the right direction after Azpilicueta gave them the lead in the 36th minute of the game. But it was Javier Hernandez who came up with a fine shot to level the score at 1-1 helping the Hammers pick up a hard-fought point at Stamford Bridge.

After the match, it was not only the Chelsea fans who were furious but defender Antonio Rudiger also had a go at Antonio Conte and his flawed tactics – indirectly of course.

Rudiger said: “I think we begged. We begged for the goal.

I think in the second half we (could) finish the game (off). But like the last few months, we didn’t and we (conceded).

For me, it’s not easy to explain. I don’t understand why after 1-0 we always drop and let the opponent get more ball possession.

Like the last weeks again, we (gave) them a gift. I think that was the first chance they (had).”

Antonio Conte’s managerial career at Chelsea depending on the club’s Champions League qualification for the next season but now it seems to be a far-fetched dream. A ten point gap will not be easy to claw down for the Stamford Bridge outfit more so when Spurs are unlikely to drop any further points.
