Tottenham Hotspur are set to take on Manchester City on Saturday at the Wembley and before the match, Mauricio Pochettino has provided some bad news.

The Lilywhites manager has confirmed that midfielder Harry Winks has travelled to Qatar to undergo treatment for an ankle injury.

Winks, 22 first picked up the injury during the game against Crystal Palace in November of 2017 and since then the midfielder has been in and out of the first eleven.

His last performance came in the month of February of this year and since then the English International has been sidelined.

Now Pochettino has confirmed that Harry Winks will be undergoing further treatment at Aspetar, which is one of the world’s leading specialised orthopaedic and sports medicine hospitals.

Pochettino said: “He’s in Qatar doing his rehab,

“We’ll see what happens. We hope after that period he can come back fixing his problem and try to again stay in the group training.

“But of course we are a little bit concerned about his situation and we’re trying to fix his problem.

“We need to wait now to assess him and we need the news from there, but always with the hope that all is going to be good.”

Harry Winks has played just 16 games this season in the English Premier League but this short span of time, the 22-year-old has received rave reviews with his manager even calling him as the “perfect midfielder”.

Winks’ performance in midfield during the UEFA Champions League game away against Real Madrid this season had grabbed a lot of eyeballs after the English International stood shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
