Arsenal are busying finding their new manager once Arsene Wenger steps down from his chair at the end of the season but it seems that the Gunners’ stubbornness could cost the club in more ways than one.
Multiple reports in England are claiming that the London outfit have shortlisted former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique as the ideal replacement to Arsene Wenger and the feeling seems to be mutual.
But the Gunners as of now are refusing to meet the wage demands of Enrique which in turn can throw a spanner in the deal.
Arsene Wenger receives £8.5 million per year under the terms of his current contract and the Arsenal hierarchy are reluctant to pay anything more than that to their new manager – as per the Daily Mail.
Luis Enrique though has demanded wages in the region of £15 million per year.
The former Barcelona boss also wants a whopping £200 million war chest which he intends to use in bringing new players during the summer transfer window.
But Ivan Gazidis is not to keen to shell out such a huge amount in the transfer market.
This disagreement between both the parties can very well benefit Chelsea Football Club who are also interested in Luis Enrique.
Antonio Conte is set to leave the club at the end of the season after having such a dismal campaign and if Arsenal and Enrique cannot agree on a price then the Blues will be more than happy to bring the Spaniard onboard.
Roman Abramovich will not think twice about giving Luis Enrique want he wants – both in the salary as well as the transfer department and if Chelsea can somehow secure a Champions League spot for the next campaign then surely they will have the upper hand in bringing Luis Enrique as their new manager.
