Liverpool have almost secured their entry into the quarterfinals of the Champions League but they will miss the services of Ben Woodburn and Georginio Wijnaldum for the second this week.

The Reds go into the second leg with a 5-0 advantage over their visitors and this was the perfect time for Jurgen Klopp to rotate his squad in order to give his first-team players a much-deserved rest.

Both Woodburn and Wijnaldum were expected to be on that list of players who were favourites to start against Porto in midweek but their injuries will certainly be a setback for them personally.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the duo is likely to miss out on Tuesday night game at Anfield.

Klopp said(as per the club’s official website): “Ben trained yesterday but he looked three kilos less, to be honest,”

“Gini still hasn’t trained with the team. He had a little bit of an athletic programme, a little bit of running – not too much. They were really out for a few days. They are coming back but it will be too early for both of them.”

Liverpool are currently on a six-game unbeaten streak and the manager would definitely want to increase that stat but he is also expected to make a host of chances in midweek against Porto especially with the Manchester United clash coming up next weekend.

Klopp will surely have one eye on the United fixture as he makes his team selection for Tuesday night’s clash against FC Porto.
