Brendan Rodgers Leicester City vs Man United

Rangers finished the 2017-18 Scottish season in third place – a staggering 12 points behind champions Celtic.

And in order to overturn their fate the Gers management brought in Steven Gerrard as their new manager and since taking charge of the Light Blues, the former Liverpool midfielder has kind of revamped the whole squad.

Despite making close to a dozen new signings for the Ibrox outfit many pundits feels that even though Rangers will give a tough competition to Celtic this season but eventually it will be Brendan Rodgers’ men who will lift the trophy.

Rangers had a catastrophe last season but their fans are hoping that new boss Steven Gerrard has managed to assemble a good enough squad which is more than capable of winning the Scottish Premiership.

And this emotion has been echoed by former Gers manager Graeme Souness who feels that the Light Blues have what it takes to beat the Hoops to the title.

Souness has gone on record to say that even though Rangers are playing catch up Celtic right now but the Bhoys can easily be beaten as they are not a very strong side.

Talking to Rangers TV, Souness said: Rangers right now are playing a poor second to Celtic. Celtic have the advantage of year after year being in the Champions League, with the rewards that bring, and with that, you can invest in the team.

“So they are behind Celtic considerably, but that doesn’t mean to say you can’t overtake them.

“I don’t think Celtic are particularly strong. Strong enough to win the Scottish league year on year, but you see how strong they are when they go into the Champions League, they get beaten and beaten quite badly by teams.

“So it’s not impossible.”

Unlike Celtic FC, their Old Firm rivals are fighting to get entry into the Europa League which is obviously the second tier of European football. But there is no denying that if Steven Gerrard manages to get his team into the Europa League then even the Light Blues will get a financial lift.
