Aaron Ramsey has entered the final year of his contract at Arsenal and the club have decided not to renew his deal meaning he is free to leave either in January or at the end of the season.
At first, it was thought the club were willing to offer the midfielder a new deal but reports suggested Unai Emery was not too keen to offer Ramsey with a new deal.
And this primarily was because the manager wanted to cut down on expenses given Arsenal were not playing in the Champions League.
Now though reports have emerged that La Liga giants Barcelona were interested in signing Aaron Ramsey during the summer transfer window.
Barcelona were all ready to make a move for the Welsham but took a u-turn at the final moment.
And this was because the Catalans had the opportunity to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal.
Vidal joined Barcelona on a three-year contract for a reported fee of 19 million euros, plus variables and the player becoming available was the only reason why Ernesto Valverde did not pursue Aaron Ramsey any more.

That though can all change by the end of this season as Barcelona have the opportunity to sign him up for free.
Aaron Ramsey has been told he can agree to a pre-contract in January and this has spiked Barcelona’s interest.
Liverpool are another club who are said to be interested in signing the midfielder and up until this point, Jurgen Klopp was said to be the front-runner in the deal.
But now with the arrival of Barcelona into the scene, Liverpool will surely face some stiff competition and the prospect of playing alongside Lionel Messi could be too good an offer to resist for Aaron Ramsey.
