The first five Ballon d’Or nominees have been named and a number of Premier League players feature prominently on the list.

The list is compiled by the editorial staff of France Football magazine following which journalists from all over the world vote for the best player in the world.

During the turn of the decade FIFA and Ballon d’Or merged together and was presented as one prestigious award but that association came to an end in 2016.




Now the first five Ballon d’Or nominees have been released which include two players from the Premier League and two players from La Liga side Real Madrid.




Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has been included in the list alongside Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.

Real Madrid have two players in the Ballon d’Or nominees – Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema while PSG star Edison Cavani become the final contender.




The first five Ballon d’Or nominees are:




Sergio Aguero – Manchester City.

Alisson Becker – Liverpool.

Karim Benzema – Real Madrid.

Gareth Bale – Real Madrid.

Edison Cavani – PSG.




The full list will contain 30 players the names of whom will be revealed throughout the day.
