Manchester City had to settle for a draw against Liverpool on Sunday after Riyad Mahrez missed a late penalty.

Guardiola’s side were awarded a penalty with just a few minutes left on the clock and Gabriel Jesus was willing to take the spot kick. But manager Pep Guardiola decided against it as he wanted Riayd Mahrez to step up.

Guardiola later admitted that he was impressed by Mahrez’s penalty taking abilities in training.

But clearly, all that practice did not seem to help the Algerian who skyrocketed the ball and all Alisson had to do was – nothing.

And Riyad Mahrez’s penalty reminded everyone of Sergio Ramos who took a similar kind of spot-kick a couple of seasons back.

So naturally, the online gang was not to let this opportunity pass by.

Here are some hilarious reactions to Riyad Mahrez’s penalty miss:

Riyad Mahrez’s penalty miss might be the talk of town currently but the 27-year-old has made it clear that the incident will not affect him in a negative way.

Mahrez said: “It won’t affect my confidence at all. Everyone misses penalties – even big, big, big players. I took the decision to shoot and the ball went up. I have to look forward, it is part of football. Sometimes you score, sometimes you miss.”
