Man United will take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League right after the international break and Nemanja Matic might miss the trip to London.

Nemanja Matic featured during Man United’s 3-2 victory over Newcastle United following which he joined Serbia for international duty.

But now the midfielder has reportedly returned back to Manchester after picking up an injury.

The injury is still unspecified but initial reports are claiming that Nemanja Matic has an ankle injury.

Serbia goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic said on the Football Association of Serbia’s website: “Sure we’ll miss them. They are our two captains and the best players, but in this team, we have a lot of quality players who are ready to replace them in their absence.

“And whoever runs on the field in Podgorica, I am sure that on the individual and collective plan, we will do our best to achieve good results.”

Manchester United have confirmed that Nemanja Matic has returned to Carrington and will complete his rehabilitation with the club.

Currently reports in England are claiming Matic will be out for close to a week which means that his return date will be agonisingly close to the Chelsea game.

Manchester United take on the Blues on Saturday the 20th of this month and Nemanja Matic is expected to be back to full training only on next Thursday.

This though are initial reports and the rehabilitation time frame might increase or decrease once the club carry out further tests.

But as things stand, Nemanja Matic will not be making the trip to his old club.
