England were knocked out of the 2018 World Cup after Croatia defeated them 2-1 in the semi-final on Wednesday.

But unlike past tournament where the players were subject to humiliation and embarrassment the Russian edition was quite different as almost everyone in England hailed the players are heroes for the country.

Almost everyone*

Well, if you are Piers Morgan then you might have different views about England’s run at the World Cup.

After Southgate’s side were knocked out and every supporter was congratulating the team on getting to the semis, Piers Morgan put out a tweet that was in total contrast to everyone’s views.

Piers Morgan wrote on Twitter: “England’s footballers are not ‘heroes’.

“They’ve restored some pride to the team & unified the country with their conduct on & off the pitch.

“But there was nothing ‘heroic’ about last night’s defeat.

“The cave divers who risked their lives to rescue those Thai kids are heroes.”

While Piers Morgan tried to disparage the English team by comparing them with the rescue efforts carried out to save the Thai kids but the Twitterati were having none of it.

Immediately replies started pouring in and most of them were a punch in the face of Piers Morgan.

England will now face Belgium in the Third place play-off on Saturday afternoon.
