Croatia have reached their first ever World Cup final after beating England in the semi-final 2-1 and now they will take on France in the final on Sunday.
France are without a doubt the favourites to win the tournament but given the amount of spirit that Croatia have shown during the tournament not many people will doubt their chances.
Croatia have played three games during the knockout stages that have gone into extra-time meaning the Vatreni have till now played one full extra match. Hence fatigue will undoubtedly be a factor for Luka Modric and co.
But midfielder Ivan Rakitic has claimed that if Croatia manage to win the World Cup then he will get a tattoo on his forehead.
The Barcelona midfielder said: “A tattoo after the World Cup final? I have a free space on my forehead. God willing, we win, then I’ll have a tattoo there. But first I’ll ask my wife.
“We respect France but everything will depend on us. We have to play properly and bring the [World Cup] trophy to Croatia. I have a feeling that hundreds of millions of people around the world will be supporting Croatia in the final… I think the world will be happy and we will win.”
Rakitic is key to whatever Barcelona do during their game but the midfielder has taken a back seat as Luka Modric is the man who has been dictating terms during the tournament.
The Real Madrid star has been in top form this World Cup but he will be up against France’s N’Golo Kante this Sunday and the Chelsea man has built a reputation of breaking down midfield plays with a swagger.
