Jose Mourinho has received the green signal from the Manchester United management and the manager will receive the backing to make signings during the January transfer window.
United made a couple of signings during the summer but Mourinho was clearly unhappy with his management for their failure to bring in a new centre-back.
But now it seems the United boss will get to fulfil his wish at the start of the new year.
As per reports, Jose Mourinho has drawn up a list for the January transfer window and the name on top of that list is Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin.
United have already activated Diego Godin’s release clause at Atletico but reports in Spain claim that the centre-back is not interested in leaving his current club any time soon.
The next player on the list is Chelsea defender Gary Cahill.
Cahill has been out of favour for the Blues ever since Maurizio Sarri took charge of the club and the 32-year-old has played just a single game in the Premier League this season.
Gary Cahill has already played under Jose Mourinho when the latter was the manager at Chelsea and Jose Mourinho is planning to use that connection in trying to convince the centre-back to join Man United in January.
The third player that Jose Mourinho wants to sign is AS Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Pellegrini joined the Italian in the summer of 2017 and since he has turned into one of the best players for Roma.
The midfielder’s current contract with the club expires in 2022 meaning Roma have no urgency to offload Lorenzo Pellegrini.
