Theoretically, this game holds a lot of importance for both the teams but Southgate as well as Roberto Martinez is expected to make a couple of changes.
And former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants Gareth Southgate to play Spurs midfielder, Eric Dier.
Wenger has claimed he cannot believe the Three Lions are yet to use Dier’s versatility in the tournament.
Wenger said: “The player who has been sacrificed and nobody talks about him is Dier, he played all the games before,
“Since the start of the competition, we have not seen him. He can play in the middle of the defence and as a midfielder.”
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier is known for his versatility and might be the key to England beating Belgium on Thursday.
The Three Lions will face their toughest opponents so far this season who have scored the same number of goals(8) as Belgium.
So clearly Gareth Southgate will have to add an extra layer of protection in midfield. A defensive midfielder who can screen the three men back-line.
And Eric Dier is tailormade to play that game.
Apart from Eric Dier, the England manager is also expected to make a couple of more chances – the most notable being the rotation of Raheem Sterling with that of Marcus Rashford.
