Earlier this week, Reds manager had confirmed that Joe Gomez would take more time to make himself fit and meaning Dejan Lovren, Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip were the only three fit central defenders.
During the 1-1 draw vs Leicester City, it was Van Dijk and Matip who played in defence and Dejan Lovren was named on the bench.
Lovren had just recovered from a hamstring injury which he picked up during the Reds’ FA Cup game earlier in January.
But now it seems that the same injury has come back to haunt Dejan Lovren once again.
Reports suggest that the Croatian has once again injured the same hamstring meaning he will miss the game vs West Ham United on Monday.
So once again it will be Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip who will pair up in central defence without any proper backup central defender on the bench.
And this will be a huge problem not only for the West Ham game but also for the coming Champions League encounter that Liverpool have against Bayern Munich.
It is still unsure as to how serious the injury to Dejan Lovren is but the manager has already confirmed that Joe Gomez will miss the Bayern Munich match.
And if either Van Dijk or Matip were to pick up an injury against West Ham on Monday then Jurgen Klopp could be in serious trouble.
Dejan Lovren missed a few games during the start of the season with a pelvis injury and now it seems that this hamstring injury is going to disrupt his second half of the season too.
