West Ham United’s main aim this season will be to finish 7th on the Premier League table so that they can get into the Europa League next campaign.

At one point in time, this dream looked perfectly achievable for Manuel Pellegrini and his boys but the Hammers seem to be sliding away from that elusive 7th spot with each passing game.

Right now, the Hammers are 11th on the league table and next up they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

And speaking before this game, Manuel Pellegrini has made it clear that he intends to go all out vs the Blues on Monday.

The manager said at his pre-match press conference on Thursday(as reported): “I need to see players that are not afraid to play against Chelsea away, after that Manchester United, we must try to go there and not just defend a result, try to play and we will see who plays better.

“I repeat that we will try to finish this season as high as we can in the table.

“We are trying to involve all the players in that mentality, the season is not over – maybe a lot of people can be happy as we are not fighting relegation as was last season – for that reason I understand that some may be happy but our mentality must always be to decide more.”

Taking the Chelsea game into account, Manuel Pellegrini has six more league games to manage this season and out of them, three are against top-six opposition.

After taking on the Blues, West Ham travel to Old Trafford next weekend to take on Manchester United.

And on the 27th of this month, Manuel Pellegrini takes his men the new Spurs’ stadium to play in a London Derby.
