Arsenal might receive a huge setback to the signing of Kieran Tierney as reports are claiming that Napoli are set to launch an official bid.
This past week Allan Preston had claimed that Celtic have not received any bids which are to their liking – indicating to the fact that no interested club is willing to pay the £25 million price tag set by the Scottish club.
Allan Preston, part of the Stellar Group that represents Tierney, told BBC Sport(as reported by the Metro): ‘It is all down to Celtic – if they get a price that they believe is the correct value for Kieran Tierney he could possibly be on his way.
‘No one has hit that price yet.
‘I know Kieran really well, I had some food with him the other day. He is such an unassuming young man. He is wealthy at the moment but he doesn’t possess a watch because he isn’t into material things like this.
Last month it was claimed that Carlo Ancelotti is eyeing a move for Kieran Tierney and could make a move for the left-back in the coming weeks.
And now, the Times are reporting that Napoli are preparing a formal bid for the youngster and this move could happen as early as this week.
The report states: “Napoli plan to formally bid for £25m-rated Kieran Tierney as early as this week if they manage to offload fellow left-back Mario Rui.
“The 28-year-old Portugal international has been told he can leave by the manager, Carlo Ancelotti, and has attracted interest from Milan, Roma, Benfica and Torino.”
The Times claim Napoli want around £13.5 million for Mario Rui and if they manage to get that amount form his sale then paying £25 million should not be a problem for the Serie A outfit.
Arsenal’s second bid was around £20 million which was still significantly short of what Celtic have been demanding and now if Napoli come into the race, then Unai Emery could very well have to pull out of the race.
Now experts are claiming that the Gunners should speed up the process to try and sign Kieran Tierney before Napoli could make a bid for the left-back.
