Chelsea are notoriously famous for their failure to keep hold of their youngsters.
The Blues have chosen to let go of a series of youngsters in the recent past who have then gone on to become world beaters with another club.
And one such player is West Ham United youngster Declan Rice.
Declan Rice has gained some limelight during the past couple of months mostly due to his off-field decisions like choosing him national side to signing a new deal with the Hammers.
But now both these issues have been sorted out and Declan Rice has since been performing exceptionally well at the heart of midfield.
This season, Declan Rice has played in 27 Premier League games for West Ham scoring two goals but pundits have been singing praises about his performances this season.
While most people know Rice as an academy graduate of West Ham but very few people know that the midfielder actually started his youth career with Chelsea.
The 20-year-old started playing football with the Chelsea youth side and moved to West Ham United.
And Hammers defender Ryan Fredericks chose to take a dig at the Blues regarding this issue.
“You were somewhere crap before weren’t you?” Fredericks said to Rice on WHUTV.
“Oh, yeah you got released (by Chelsea). Their loss isn’t it.
“Now you’re top boy.
“Your (FIFA rating) was a big disrespect as well. Oh wow, 69, after a full season of Prem, bossing it, pocketing all sorts. Interceptions got to be up there in the 90s. Next year rating in the 80s no?”
West Ham’s new deal for Declan Rice will keep him at the club until 2024 but there is a huge doubt as to just how long can Pellegrini hold onto the youngster especially if he keeps on performing so well.
But be rest assured, whenever Declan Rice decides to leave, the Hammers will be reimbursed handsomely.
