Arsenal have been trying to offload Mesut Ozil ever since the January transfer window but they just can’t seem to get rid of the German.
Inter Milan had shown interest in signing him at the start of 2019 but eventually, they backed off. And now the playmaker has been linked with a move to Fenerbahce.
It has been claimed that Arsenal are willing to send Mesut Ozil out on loan to the Turkish club and they are also ready to pay a part of his wages just to get rid of him.
The Mirror had reported, “Ozil is a boyhood Fenerbahce fan, and the Turkish club are confident they can bring the midfielder in on loan for the season after drawing up a transfer plan.
“Ozil earns around £13.5million per season at Arsenal, but Fenerbahce are looking to pay £8million towards his wages for the coming campaign.
“The Gunners will pay the remaining £5.5million owed to Ozil for the season, report Fanatik.
“Ozil appears keen to remain at Arsenal, amid claims he loves living in London.”
That deal has not made any significant progress since and now it looks like Mesut Ozil might just have cost Arsenal the chance to sign Nabil Fekir.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the Lyon midfielder and it was more or less certain that Unai Emery will try desperately to sign the 25-year-old.
Now though, Arsenal have made it clear that they will not be able to make a move for Fekir until they offload Mesut Ozil prompting other interested clubs to move in for the French international.
Inside Futbol reports, “Nabil Fekir now has interest from no fewer than three La Liga clubs, while Arsenal have made clear they cannot move for him while they have Mesut Ozil on the books.
“The Lyon midfielder is expected to be on the move this summer, with less than a year left on his contract in France and Les Gones having given their approval to a sale.
“Fekir has options, although the fierce race for his services envisaged has not yet materialised.
“He has been linked with Arsenal and, according to French sports daily L’Equipe, the Gunners have expressed an interest.
“Arsenal’s officials have been clear though in letting all concerned know that they cannot move for Fekir until they have made sales, not least that of the high-earning Ozil.”
So clearly Arsenal will be frantic to offload Mesut Ozil or else Nabil Fekir could very well be playing in the La Liga next season.
