The Red Devils won the match 2-0 and once again all eyes are on Maurizio Sarri and his tactics.
The manager has remained stubborn with his statistics and once again he set up his team in the very same way as he did during the 6-0 loss to Man City last week.
And just like the other big games, Jorginho once again failed to make an impact.
Solskjaer set up his team brilliantly and the Norwegian used Juan Mata to brilliantly neutralise the former Napoli star.
Jorginho might have been a superb player in the Serie A last season but the holding midfielder has really struggled to live up to all the hype.
He is one of those rare playmakers who does not provide assists and is lost for choices when a few opponents hound on him.
And Solskjaer chose to do just that taking a leaf out of Arsenal’s book.
When Arsenal met Chelsea last month, Unai Emery chose to play a diamond in midfield and it was Aaron Ramsey who was playing at the tip of the diamond.
The Welshman’s main job was to rattle Jorginho which he did very well.
And on Monday, the Man United manager used the same ploy wherein Juan Mata was playing the same role as Ramsey did for Arsenal a couple of weeks ago.
When the team sheet was announced there were a lot of frowns over Solskjaer’s choice of attackers with many believing that Alexis Sanchez should have gotten a start.
But the caretaker boss knew exactly what he was doing – thanks to Unai Emery.
Jorginho has inherited N’Golo Kante’s role in defensive midfield but the Italian is one of the poorest holding midfielders we have seen in a long time.
Jorginho is a type of player who can work wonders when given the space and time but unfortunately, he runs around like a headless chicken when the opponents decide to hunt him down.
