Arsenal appointed Unai Emery as their new boss last summer and since then the Gunners have had a really unorthodox season.
During the first few months, the North London club had been cruising in the Premier League and everyone was sure that they would get back into the Champions League with considerable ease.
But their form dipped considerably during the second half of the season and the Gunners ended up finishing fifth in the league table which means they will once again have to grind it out in the Europa League next campaign.
They did have the chance of getting back into the UCL by winning the Europa League final this time around but in the end Chelsea sort of humiliated them in the final.
And to rub more salts to their wound, North London rivals, Tottenham not only made it to the top-four but they also were able to reach the Champions League final which they eventually lost to Liverpool.
Unai Emery is undoubtedly having a really tough summer transfer window especially with a limited transfer budget and it looks like even Chelsea are doing better than them despite having a transfer ban imposed on them.
And now a report has humorously claimed that there’s more chance of alien contact next year than there’s a possibility of Arsenal winning the English Premier League.
Sportbible reports: “Over 1 million people want to storm Area 51 and those people apparently have 10 times more chance of actually finding an alien than Arsenal do winning the Premier League.
Facebook event ‘Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us’ has over 1.2 million marked as going and more than one million more down as ‘Interested’ as people become desperate to spot some aliens.
“Bookmaker Paddy Power think the odds of extraterrestrial life being proven this year is just 5/1, making it 10 times more likely than Arsenal winning the Premier League, with the Gunners’ 50/1 to do so.
“It’s not only the Gunners who are less likely to top the table than find E.T phoning home though with Spurs 16/1, Chelsea 25/1 and Manchester United 30/1.”
This is some really funny but at the same time humiliating.
Winning the Premier League next season is obviously a far fetched dream for Arsenal but they do need to get back into the Champions League if they wish to see any change in fortunes.
