N’Golo Kante has been a key player for Chelsea ever since he joined the club from Leicester City but the player is really having a troubled summer.
The player has mostly fit during the past season but he did miss some games in May due to a combination of hamstring and knee injuries.
And it looks like these injuries are just refusing to go away.
Up until now, N’Golo Kante has not featured for Frank Lampard’s Chelsea during their pre-season games and now the club have reported that he has returned back to England.
Right now the Blues are in Japan for their pre-season tour and Kane has picked up a new injury and will continue his rehab back at the Chelsea base in London.
A Chelsea statement read(as reported): ‘N’Golo Kante has travelled back to the UK to continue his rehabilitation for an injury connected to the knee problem he sustained at the end of last season.’
This is certainly a huge blow for Chelsea since the start of the 2019-20 season is fast approaching and now reports suggest that the Frenchman could miss the start of the new campaign.
N’Golo Kante first picked up the hamstring injury towards the start of May this year and then he went on to injure his knee.
It is still unsure as to how long N’Golo Kante will be out but if he does miss the first few games then it could be a real cause of concern for Frank Lampard.
On the first day of the season, the Blues take on Manchester United in the English Premier League and then just four days later they travel to Istanbul for the UEFA Super Cup vs Liverpool.
While Lampard does have enough reinforcements in case Kante is absent but the manager will surely want his best midfielder to remain fully fit for these games.
But there is some good news though as Tammy Abraham and keeper Kepa Arizzabalaga has returned back to training.
