Jose Mourinho has taken charge at Tottenham Hotspur after the Lilywhites sacked Mauricio Pochettino last week. But with the Portuguese taking charge, there are fears that the young players at the club might be sidelined.

Obviously their fears are quite legitimate since the manager has had a history of shunning out young prodigy who has later gone on to become world-beaters at other clubs.

And two of the biggest examples of this happening are Kevin De Bruyne and Mo Salah who are now some of the biggest stars in world football despite them not even breaking into the first-team when they were at Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho has received heavy criticism for failing to recognize the talents of the duo but now former defender John Terry has now come out to explain why Salah and Kevin De Bruyne failed to break into the first XI when they were at Stamford Bridge.

“In my generation now I see people like Salah and Kevin De Bruyne come through and not being able to match his standards at the time,” the Chelsea legend told Dubai Eye radio[as quoted by Football London].

“Now they were very talented but very young individuals as well. But Mourinho didn’t have time to put them in the team or take out a Duff or Robben because we were winning every single week and his job is on the line.

“So, like I said before if you come in and you are 10 or 20 per cent below the standard of Duff and Robben who were scoring 20 goals a season each. You are not gonna make that team, no chance.

“Fair play to them they’ve gone away elsewhere and proved they’re good enough but at that present time they wasn’t good enough for Chelsea.”

Both Salah and Kevin are now fighting for the Premier League while Jose Mourinho has been trying to get his managerial career back on track after being sacked by Manchester United last year.

During his first interview with Spurs, Mourinho had claimed that he is eager to work with the youngsters at the club but right now his main aim will be to keep Champions League football at the club for the upcoming season.
