Man United take on Wolves in the FA Cup replay at Old Trafford this week and this is a very important game for both the players as well as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United were humbled by Man City in the EFL Cup semi-final and the Red Devils are more or less out of that tournament meaning if they are serious about winning a silverware this season then beating Wolves is of the utmost priority.

Wolves have not managed to pick up a win at Old Trafford since 1980 but Man United are winless against them in their last five matches against Santo’s men meaning historical evidence is clearly not favouring one particular side.

But since Man United will be playing at home, they do have a slight edge over Wolves.

Man United team news vs Wolves:

Sergio Romero was in goal for the game at Molineux and it seems like the Argentine will once again replace David De Gea in goal in midweek.

Harry Maguire and Lindelof really put in a fine shift in central defence vs Norwich and the pair should reprise their role vs Wolves. While Eric Bailly is back to full fitness but we don’t think the manager will hand him a start. At best he could come on during the end of the game if Man United have managed to secure a victory.

Diogo Dalot has also returned back to full fitness and the full-back could replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back while we expect Brandon Williams to keep his place at left-back after a fine display against the Canaries.

Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba remain long-term absentees meaning once again it will be the pairing of Fred and Matic who will play in central midfield.

Juan Mata was the standout player for Man United during their win vs Norwich City and there’s a very big chance that Solskjaer might be tempted to rename the Spaniard in his first XI vs Wolves as well.

Marcus Rashford was taken off during the win vs Norwich and immediately there were fears of an injury but those rumours have been debunked with the player himself claiming that he is fit and ready to play in midweek.

Daniel James came off the bench against the Canaries but the Welshman is in line to start on the right-wing against Wolves meaning Juan Mata will have to play in the No 10 role – the position which he prefers the most.

Anthony Martial was on fire during the weekend and it would be a cruelty to drop him to the bench but we think the Man United boss will most probably take this harsh call with the Liverpool game coming up next weekend.

If the Frenchman is rested for the FA Cup replay then it will be Mason Greenwood who will get a chance to shine upfront and this will in no ways be a negative move from Solskjaer.
