Arsenal have been linked with a move for Celtic’s 22-year-old forward Odsonne Edouard during the upcoming transfer window.
Odsonne Edouard joined the SPFL side in the summer of 2018 and over the past two seasons, the forward has very easily filled into the boots of Moussa Dembele.
During the 2019-20 season, the Frenchman has netted 21 goals and provided 12 assists in just 27 Premiership matches and as per some rumours, Edouard is one of Arteta’s top summer targets.
Now according to Scottish football pundit Ally McCoist, even Thierry Henry rates the youngster pretty highly.
“I spoke to Thierry Henry at the Liverpool vs Leicester City game and he really rates Edouard,” McCoist told the Daily Record, as reported.
“He was saying in France in particular [Edouard is admired] and he personally really, really thinks he’s got a chance of going right to the top.”
Will Arsenal be able to land Odsonne Edouard?
Celtic currently value Odsonne Edouard at around £30-40 million which is kind of a steep price for the Gunners, especially given they also need to make other signings.
But if the Gunners choose to part ways with Alexandre Lacazette then surely Arteta will ask his board to make a move for Edouard in the summer.
Atletico Madrid want to sign Lacazette for the next season and if that happens then Arsenal can easily use that same money to fund a move for the Celtic forward.
It’s being claimed that Arteta has already talked with Edouard’s former teammate Kieran Tierney about the forward’s attitude meaning Arsenal are expected to launch a formal bid, sooner or later.
Celtic will not be too pleased to lose the Frenchman after just two seasons but if the Premier League side are willing to match their demands then there’s no way Neil Lennon will stop Odsonne Edouard from moving to England.
