Chelsea are expected to step up their interest in Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell now that they are set to miss out on Porto’s Alex Telles.
Ligue 1 giants PSG are currently the frontrunners in signing Telles from FC Porto who happens to be the backup option for Frank Lampard.
Le10Sport claims: “According to our information, PSG officially entered into negotiations with FC Porto for Alex Telles. Paris, which wants to recruit to the position of the left side to compensate for the departure of Layvin Kurzawa, has moved closer to Porto to start the discussions for a summer transfer.
“According to our sources, the PSG is also talking with representatives of Alex Telles at the same time.
“Paris officially opened the file very recently, no offer has yet been transmitted. And the first elements suggest that this is a long file to close. Especially because FC Porto is very greedy, and that PSG does not intend to spend a lot on this file.”
Will Chelsea move hastily for Ben Chilwell?
Ben Chilwell has always been the first priority for Chelsea and now that they are set to miss out on Telles, Lampard might try and bring in the Leicester City man as soon as possible.
Leicester have valued Ben Chilwell at around £80 million which is a really steep price but if Inter Milan are ready to pay the full value for Emerson then it will become a whole lot easier for the London based club.
Chelsea want £40 million in exchange of Emerson and if Inter are willing to agree to this price then the Blues can use this same money to try and sign Ben Chilwell.
PSG’s interest in Alex Telles has clearly played things into the Foxes hands since Rodgers can now play the waiting game and can even afford to jack up the asking price for Chilwell.
So if Chelsea are serious about signing a new left-back, they will have to move fast or else some other club might try and swoop up Ben Chilwell in the summer.
