Manchester United are set to be joined by Bayern Munich in the race to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, according to ESPN.
The report claims: “Manchester United face competition to land Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho this summer, with sources telling ESPN that Bayern Munich made enquiries about him before the coronavirus shutdown.
“Bayern are also in the market for Manchester City’s Leroy Sane, who remains a priority target, but sources have told ESPN they are keeping their options open and will press ahead with a bid for Sancho if any move for Sane stalls.”
Jadon Sancho has come up through the ranks at Manchester City’s academy but he went on to join Dortmund in 2017. And as per the various sources, it’s arch-rivals Manchester United who are now favourites to land him in the summer.
Will Man United lose out on Jadon Sancho?
Clearly, Man United are still in the front of the queue as far as the Sancho transfer is concerned but the entry of Bayern Munich is sure to raise some alarms at Old Trafford.
Bayern were close to signing Sane last summer but the player picked up that unfortunate injury which caused the transfer to fall apart in the final days of the transfer window. Now, the Bavarians are not ready to take any more chances which is why they have chalked up an alternative for the Man City man.
Also, this interest from Bayern Munich is great news for Borussia Dortmund who are now more than willing to uphold their initial asking price for Jadon Sancho.
As per The Telegraph, Dortmund are not ready to drop their demands as they still want £100 million in exchange for the English winger.
It remains to be seen if Bayern are ready to pay such a massive fee during a financial crisis but Manchester United have made their intentions pretty clear – they are going all out to land the 20-year-old.
