The Blues have been heavily linked with a move for Leicester City full-back Ben Chilwell but it seems like the Stamford Bridge outfit have given up hopes of signing the English international.
As per reports, the Foxes are going to do everything in their right in order to stop Chilwell from moving out for cheap and there’s a massive chance the player himself might snub a transfer to Chelsea.
And this is why the Blues have reportedly shifted their focus to Nicolas Tagliafico who according to Lampard will be the perfect replacement for the Leicester man.
Nicolas Tagliafico joined Ajax in 2018 and during the 2019-20 season, the player has been involved in seven games across 24 Eredivisie games.
And it looks like Ajax are ready to let him leave in the summer since the player has only two years left on his current deal with the Amsterdam club.

It’s still unclear as to how strong Chelsea’s interest in Nicolas Tagliafico really is but according to some reports, the Ajax man is amongst a number of players that Chelsea are currently looking at.
Why Nicolas Tagliafico?
As per the report, Chelsea have been ruled out of the Ben Chilwell transfer due to the high transfer price that Leicester City are expected to quote in the summer.
And it looks like the Blues have chosen to make a move for Nicolas Tagliafico since the player is likely to be the least expensive amongst their chosen ones.
As per TransferMarkt, the full-back is valued at 35 million euros which right now is half of what Leicester are planning to ask for Ben Chilwell in the summer.
Also, Chelsea have already signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and some rumours claim that the Blues might use Ziyech to lure Nicolas Tagliafico out of the Eredivisie and into Stamford Bridge.
