Chelsea take on Wolves in the Premier League on Sunday and a lot will be riding on this game for Frank Lampard and his men.

The Blues are currently fourth on the league table but they will need to secure a win on Sunday in order to remain in the top-four and qualify for the Champions League next season.

Leicester take on Man United on the very same day and if the Foxes do manage to beat Man United then Lampard’s men will someone have to find a way to pick up a win against Nuno’s side.

While Chelsea do have the firepower up front to score a couple past Wolves at Stamford Bridge during the final matchday but two big pundits have raised very similar concerns regarding the home side’s shaky backline.

Firstly, Charlie Nicolas wrote for Sky Sports: “I have my doubts Chelsea will get the job done. The simple fact is, Chelsea are very good going forward, but oh my goodness – a back three doesn’t help them, and a back four doesn’t help them! It’s quite staggering how poor they are defensively, especially from set-pieces.

“Wolves are dangerous, they were my dark horse to get into the Champions League and they kind of blew it.

“It’s down to themselves, but there’s no doubt there are some good players there. I think Chelsea will get a draw, but they’ll have to sweat. Wolves are well-drilled at the back, but Chelsea going forward, I think they’ll be able to score.”

Michael Owen has also pointed out the same weaknesses but unlike Nicholas who has opted for a draw, Owen believes that Chelsea will be able to nick this match.

The former striker has predicted: “Chelsea’s defeat to Liverpool in a cracking game at Anfield on Wednesday means they now need at least one point from this clash with Europa League chasing Wolves at Stamford Bridge to secure a Champions League berth for next season.

“Frank Lampard will be happy with the way his team are playing going forward, but they do have a worrying tendency to concede goals from set-pieces and particularly from corners. Chelsea have now conceded ten goals from corner kicks this season. Only Norwich, with 12, have conceded more.

“Wolves eased past a woefully out of form Crystal Palace in what was the Wanderers’ 56th game of the season and that win means their participation in next season’s Europa League is still very much in their own hands. A win here would guarantee them 6th spot but, with Tottenham just one point behind them, they will know that any slip-ups could prove costly.

“I think this could be a tight, nervy affair, but I’m going for a 2-1 win to the Blues.”
