Chelsea are on the brink of signing a new manager after suffering through a mediocre season and multiple sources claim that the Blues are set to appoint former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri as their new boss.

Sarri parted ways with Napoli on 23 May 2018 after spending three years with the club and as soon as the Italian stepped down from his position the transfer grape vines have been abuzz that the 59-year-old will be sitting at the Stamford Bridge dugout come next season.

Here are some facts that you should know about the soon to be Chelsea boss:

1. As a youngster, Maurizio Sarri was the only Napoli supporter in his whole school.

2. Sarri pursued a career as a banker in Florence, while playing football at an amateur level during his playing days.

3. The Italian started his coaching career in 1990 at the age of just 31 with Stia.

4. Sarri took charge of Napoli in 2015 replacing former manager Rafa Benitez but his appointment was received with a lot of criticism both from fans as well as club legends.

5. Despite being a non-favourite, Sarri went on to become one of the most successful managers in Napoli’s recent history.

6. Sarri managed 147 games during his time at Napoli where he managed to win 65.99 percent of the games.

7. He won the Serie A coach of the year award in the 2016-17 season.

8. Maurizio Sarri though has a bad habit of smoking and is often seen smoking in between football matches.

9. The former Napoli manager was involved in a heated exchange with Roberto Mancini, then head coach of Inter Milan, during a Coppa Italia match in 2016 where Mancini accused Sarri of being a homophobe.

10. Maurizio Sarri’s is expected to receive a 5 million dollar a year deal at Chelsea.
