Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir has claimed he is not close to joining Liverpool as many reports have recently suggested and the 24-year-old is still weighing in his options.

For the past couple of days, multiple British tabloids have claimed that the attacking midfielder is on the verge of joining Liverpool but immediately after the Reds’ loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League final, Fekir has made it clear that no deal has been agreed with the Merseyside outfit.

Nabil told TF1“There are discussions with several clubs, but I will take time to think.”

And this statement was echoed by Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas who said:

“For the moment, we’re not talking with Nabil,

“He’s been the architect of a great season. Nabil has not indicated that he wants to leave or if he wants to play one more year with Champions League football.”

This bit of news will come as a huge boost for London clubs Arsenal and Chelsea who are reportedly tracking the 24-year-old.

Fekir is a Lyon youth team product who broke into the senior squad back in 2013 and since then the attacking midfielder cum forward has made 153 appearances for the Ligue 1 side.

The 2017-18 season was especially significant for the 24-year-old which saw him play in 39 games while managing to score 23 goals.

Nabil’s current contract with Lyon expires in 2020 and the player is valued in the region of £45 million according to TransferMarkt.
