Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi is one of the hottest prospects in the current transfer window and a series of top European clubs are running after his signature.

For months now, several reports have claimed that the 25-year-old will be moving out of the San Siro during the summer and this news was further confirmed by his wife who is also his agent.

His wife Wanda Nara recently told Radio Metro a lot of the big European clubs are ready to pay his release clause which currently stands at 96 million pounds.

She said: “There are some big clubs ready to pay the release clause, which is very high, but considering the figures that are circulating in football right now and the kind of player Mauro is, it’s not even that remarkable.

“There are many clubs putting pressure on, but his priority is Inter. There will be a meeting with their director of sport and the priority as of today is to stay here.”

And now to add further fuel to the fire, Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti has gone onto claim that they will be powerless in holding back Icardi if a big club comes calling.

Spalletti said: “I’ve spoken with Mauro several times and he sent very precise signals.

“He’s happy at Inter and wants to stay, but then there are clubs which, if they decide to take a player, you could have been saying I won’t leave here the day before, then the next day they take you and in the end you’re happy to go, even though the previous day you were thinking very differently.

“We have to be ready for anything, but for now there are no signals and no doubts about what he wants.”

Mauro Icardi has been heavily linked with clubs like Real Madrid, PSG and Manchester United over the past couple of months and given his superb performance in the 2017-18 season it will not come as a surprise if these clubs make a bid for the Argentine.

Recent reports have also suggested that Chelsea are planning to offload Alvaro Morata from amongst their ranks and are planning to make a move for Icardi in the coming months.
