Liverpool suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday and Reds goalkeeper Loris Karius has been the target of the Liverpool fans after his silly errors.
Karius gifted the first goal to Real Madrid after his attempts to release the ball rebounded of Karim Benzema and went into the back of the net. As if this was not enough, he then failed to gather a Gareth Bale long ranger which eventually slipped between his hands into the goal.
And as the match ended, the 24-year-old broke down in tears and went up to the Liverpool fans in the stadium and apologised with folded hands.
This though did little to calm down the fans as Karius has been targetted heavily on social media.
But all does not seem lost for the shot-stopper and he seems to have found an unlikely supporter in the form of former porn star Mia Khalifa.
Khalifa posted a smiling picture of Loris Karius on her Instagram account and captioned it: ‘Keep smiling. Mistakes are human nature’
And she did not forget to mention Sergio Ramos as well and ended the caption with the hashtag “F**kYouRamos”.
And if this was not enough then the former porn star indulged in some harmless flirting when a website tried to mock the 24-year-old.
A couple of days before the UCL final, Karius had posted a picture of himself with the caption: “Eyes on the prize”
And after his two silly errors, sports website Bench Warmers joked: “Probably should have kept his eyes on the ball instead…”
Khalifa also commented on this picture by saying, “Is he the prize? Because….”
Karius has received the support from Mia Khalifa but keeping such gossip aside the sad part is, not a lot of Liverpool players have come out to show their support for the 24-year-old.
Even Jurgen Klopp’s defence was professional and his comments oozed no sympathy for the goalkeeper.
Klopp said: “What can I say? Loris knows it, everybody knows it. It’s a shame in a game like this and after a season like this. I really feel for him; he’s a fantastic boy
“Nobody wants that, [but] that’s the situation. The mistakes were obvious, we don’t have to talk about that, it’s all clear; he knows it, I know it, you all know it.
“Now, he has to deal with it, we have to deal with, we will do that, of course, we will be with him, there’s no doubt about that. It was not his night, obviously.”
