Koulibaly to Man United

Chelsea are planning a major overhaul to their current squad and it seems that they are already on the verge of making their first big money signing of the summer.

The Blues are planning to launch a bid for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly sometime next month and if the deal goes through then the Senegalese will become a more expensive buy that Alvaro Morata.

Koulibaly currently plays for Serie A side Napoli after having joined them from Belgium side Genk for a fee in the region of £6.5 million. And since then the 26-year-old has gone onto make 164 appearances for the Serie A outfit – scoring 8 goals.

Chelsea’s new manager Maurizio Sarri has reportedly handed a transfer wishlist to club owner Roman Abramovich and it looks like Koulibaly ranked pretty high on the list.

The Stamford Bridge outfit have a pretty battered defensive line at this point in time with the likes of Gary Cahill and David Luiz both expected to leave the club during the summer.

In such a scenario it is not too surprising that the Blues are heavily investing in a centre-back.

Reports suggest that Chelsea are planning to make a €85 million bid for Koulibaly which if approved will make the 26-year-old the most expensive buy in the club’s history.

This though is not the first time that Chelsea have gone after the Senegalese as back in the summer of 2017, the London based club had placed a €55 million bid for the centre-back.

But that move was swiftly turned down by Napoli after the club’s president claimed that they did not have adequate backup for Koulibaly at that point in time.
