Man United have slumped to yet another defeat in the Premier League, this time going down 4-1 to Watford. This loss means the Red Devils are now close to the bottom of the table than they are to the top.

United tried really hard to stage a comeback after going down 2-0 in the first half but Maguire sending himself off put all those plans into the bin.

The United captain was caught napping on the ball and he picked up a second yellow card after trying to retrieve the ball via a really reckless challenge.

Manchester United did manage to ramp up the pressure despite going down to 10 men but in the end, the added man on the pitch tilted the game in favour of the Hornets.

Players like Maguire and Nemanja Matic looked all over the place and even Bruno Fernandes struggled to find the Midas touch which he used to perfection last season.

But despite, Man United playing so poorly, there are a couple of players who showed that they are up for the challenge and shone on the night, despite the disappointing result. Obviously, everyone will share the blame for the 4-1 loss but there are three players who clearly deserve to start week in week out if the Old Trafford outfit want to turn things around at the earliest.

Cristiano Ronaldo:

Ronaldo is one of the main reasons why Man United are still sitting in the top half of the table but he’s failed to find the back of the net in the previous few matches.

CR7 was particularly poor on Saturday as he had gotten several clear-cut chances to put the ball into the back of the net and had he done so, Man United might have actually picked up something from this game.

Nonetheless, Ronaldo has the ability to find space and be at the right places at the right time and he needs to start every weekend if Man United want to see sunshine at the end of the tunnel.

Jadon Sancho:

Sancho has found it really hard to adjust to life in the Premier League since his summer move but on Saturday, the winger put in a pretty decent shift.

Had Ronaldo found the back of the net, Jadon Sancho might have ended the match with a few assists against his name. This was possibly the first time that the England international looked comfortable with the ball at his feet and if he can get consistent game time then the winger could soon get the form back which he had shown in Germany.

Donny van de Beek:

The Dutchman is the one Man United player who can hold his head high despite the result.

Donny had an instant impact after coming on in the second half, scoring from a header and had if United hadn’t gone down to 10 men, the midfielder would surely have been the man to turn things around.

According to Fotmob, Donny van de Beek had a rating of 7.7 out of 10 despite playing just 45 minutes and that is a phenomenal figure for a player whose side lost 4-1.

The 24-year-old undoubtedly needs to start every match for Manchester United and if Ole is still blind to this fact then Norwegian clearly doesn’t know what needs to be done to sort things out.
