Rangers FC are having a magical run in the Europa League and they will now play in their first European semi-final since 2007/08 where they take on RB Leipzig.

The Gers have knocked out giants like Dortmund and Braga in the previous round but despite their fine form, they will go into the semi-final as the major underdogs.

Leipzig are fourth on the Bundesliga table and since the first leg will be played in the Red Bull Arena, Rangers FC will have to fight tooth and nail to even pick up a draw.

The SPFL side have fallen behind in the league but their recent form has been great as they have won four out of their previous five outings across all competitions. Leipzig though are in even better form as haven’t lost in their last 15 games in Europe.

To make matters worse, GvB will be without some very important players on Thursday so his main aim will be to keep Rangers in the hunt and take it to the second leg.

Rangers FC team news vs RB Leipzig:

The manager could look to make a slight change in formation by using three proper central midfielders instead of a 4-2-3-1.

Aaron Ramsey is set to miss the 1st leg with a hamstring injury but the playmaker should be back in contention for the 2nd leg. With him missing, Joe Aribo will move to the right flank with Ryan Kent operating on the left-hand side.

Ramsey’s absence will also allow Lundstram, Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara to all start in midfield but GvB will also have the option to use Scott Arfield.

The main problem for the manager will be in the centre-forward area because Morelos and Kemar Roofe are both ruled out with injuries.

Alfredo Morelos is out for the rest of the season with a thigh injury whereas Roofe picked up a knee issue during the Old Firm Derby. With both the forwards out, Fashion Sakala will be the one to lead the line but the 25-year-old has played only 1177 minutes of football this season so he won’t be oozing confidence against Leipzig.
