Arsenal are ready to pay £30 million for Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and according to Jamie O’Hara, the Gunners have completely lost their transfer plot.

Manager Mikel Arteta is eager to add competition to his keeper’s position but according to O’Hara, Arsenal are paying way too much for the 23-year-old shot-stopper.

‘This literally sums Arsenal up doesn’t it, sums them up business-wise,’ O’Hara told talkSPORT.

‘They got rid of Martinez, who is a brilliant keeper, for what… £20 million? A snip, he was one of the best keepers last season.

‘And now they are going to sign someone from a relegated team for £30m… what are they doing?! Who is doing their business there? What are they doing? They are a mess.

‘They are signing a keeper who is not as good as they had. They sold the keeper for £20m and bringing in someone who’s not as good as him. Aaron Ramsdale is not as good as Martinez.

‘Ben White is a really good signing. I think that’s going to be a success, I think that’s a great signing, £50m for someone from Brighton is ridiculous money but that’s just the way the market is, especially with English players.’

Are Arsenal paying too much for Aaron Ramsdale?

Unlike other seasons, the Gunners are spending big amounts in the transfer market but instead of buying world class signings, they are picking up potential gambles.

Yes, £30 million is a lot of money for someone like Aaron Ramsdale but Arsenal finished eighth in the Premier League last season, so there’s no way they will be able to attract the superstars of world football this summer.

The only way they will be able to revive their faith is by spending money in the transfer market and hoping their gambles pay off by the end of the 2021/22 season.

Also, Sheffield United paid £18.5 million for Aaron Ramsdale in 2020 so there’s no way the Blades are going to let him leave in a bargain deal.
