Adrien Rabiot has said his goodbyes at Juventus and the midfielder is currently a free agent. However, just like every major free agent these days, the French international has no shortage of takers.
Rabiot rejected a new deal with the Old Lady because he wants a fresh challenge and along with the ever-present Manchester United, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal have all registered an interest in him during the course of this summer transfer window.
Adrien Rabiot joined Juventus in 2019 as a free agent and since then, the central midfielder has featured in 212 games across all competitions. Despite being a central midfielder, Rabiot is very attack-minded because, in those 212 appearances, he has made 37 goal contributions.
Because the 29-year-old is a free agent, the gossip vines have gone into overdrive with reports of which club is most likely to sign him up. Some rumours are suggesting that he is on his way to the Premier League while some are of the view that Adrien Rabiot wants to play for the mighty Real Madrid. With so many reports and rumours, we decided to clear the clutter and make some sense out of it.
Which club will get to sign Adrien Rabiot?
The first and most obvious favourite happens to be Manchester United, a team who have been linked with the midfielder several times in the past. With Casemiro and McTominay set to leave, Ten Hag wants to bring in at least two new central midfielders and according to Caught Offside, United have already held talks with the French midfielder.
The same report claims that along with MUFC, Liverpool have also made contact with the player’s representatives.
However, according to a report in TuttoSport, (as quoted by The Standard), Adrien Rabiot is keen to play for Manchester United.
Then there’s a report in Gazzetta dello Sport (via The Express), which is of the view that North London side Arsenal are currently leading the race to sign the 29-year-old.
Real Madrid have also been mentioned as one of the strong contenders to land Adrien Rabiot because Carlo Ancelotti does not wish to waste time to find a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos.
As per Paisley Gates, Adrien Rabiot wants a salary package of around €290,000 per week and it’s safe to say that Liverpool and also Arsenal will think twice before paying such a hefty salary package to a 29-year-old.
Hypothetically, at Arsenal, he would be the third-highest earner at the Emirates while at Liverpool, he would be second, behind Mo Salah.
While Liverpool and Arsenal will ponder whether to pay a premium, Man United and Real Madrid will happily meet Rabiot’s wage demands so there’s no doubt that these two are probably standing at the front of the queue.
As things stand, it seems like Adrien Rabiot prefers Man United over the other suitors but if someone else is willing to pay him €15 million a year, the midfielder won’t mind agreeing personal terms with that club.
