Premier League sides Liverpool and Chelsea look all set to battle it out for the signing of Real Sociedad’s 21-year-old striker Alexander Isak, according to Noticias de Gipuzkoa.
The report claims: “According to what this newspaper has been able to know, the Anfield entity follows the Real battering ram very closely. There they handle excellent reports from Isak, whom they see as a substitute in the not too distant future for Roberto Firmino.
“Sweden and Alexander Isak have at least two Euro Cup games left, against Slovakia and Poland.
“The future of a footballer who has also been linked in recent hours with the current European champion, Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea, will depend on his performance in both stakes. However, Liverpool is the Premier team that is closely following the evolution of the Blue and White attacker.”
Will Alexander Isak join Chelsea or Liverpool?
Liverpool are looking for an upgrade to Roberto Firmino while Chelsea want a striker who can replace Timo Werner up front. So both these Premier League sides have every reason to make a move for the 21-year-old striker.
His current deal expires in 2024 and has a release clause of €70 million which is a really steep price to pay for either Chelsea or Liverpool.
The Blues are also being linked with players like Harry Kane and Erling Haaland so there’s no denying that Alexander Isak will prove to be a much cheaper option. But, at the same time, the Real Sociedad man is going to be a major gamble.

Firmino has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid this summer so someone like Alexander Isak could turn out to be the perfect replacement. But Klopp bought Diogo Jota last summer and some experts think the former Wolves man should be used as the main centre-forward next season.
Real Sociedad are ready to cash in on the centre-forward and if he can have a good enough campaign at the Euros with Sweden then the La Liga side will waste no time in selling him to the highest bidder.
During the 2020-21 season, Alexander Isak played in 34 La Liga games for Sociedad scoring 17 goals.
