Pundit makes a bold claim regarding this 25 Y/O’s future: Will Rangers actually profit from it?

Alfredo Morelos Rangers

Rangers FC are trying really hard to make Alfredo Morelos sign a new deal but according to Alan Hutton, even if they lose him, it will not be a win-win situation for Gerrard.

It’s an open secret that the forward has hopes of moving out of Ibrox and according to Hutton, he’ll try his level best to impress the potential suitors and this will come in real handy as and when Rangers are determining a fee for the South American.

“I think the manager’s right. If he’s getting the best out of Morelos that means he’s scoring goals and putting in good performances on the pitch – and that warrants other clubs looking at the player,” Hutton told Football Insider.

“It’s a win-win for everybody – if Rangers are going to sell, it will be for a good fee which they will reinvest in the squad.

“Steven Gerrard isn’t silly; he knows exactly what’s going on. Morelos’ best performances come under the lights on European nights when he knows everyone is watching.

“It works for both parties. As long as he’s putting the ball in the net, there’ll be teams watching him.”

Will Alfredo Morelos stay or leave next year?

Alfredo Morelos has spent four years with Rangers and in these four years, the forward has been the main attacking force for the Gers.

But, there’s no way he will remain at Ibrox for one more season.

His current deal expires in 2023 so the Gers have no other option but to cash in on him next summer. The last thing Gerrard will want is to accept a cut-price deal for his premier striker when he enters the final year of his contract.

This season, Alfredo Morelos has netted four goals in 11 league matches but he’s failed to find the back of the net in three Europa League appearances. And if he wants to join a big European club then the South American will have to show his skills on Thursday nights.

His current market value is £10.8 million so Rangers FC are expected to quote around £20 million for the forward. But once Morelos enters the final year of his contract this value is going to nose dive at a rapid pace.

Steven Gerrard will love to hold onto Alfredo Morelos but the reality is that Rangers will have to balance their books and for that, they will have to sell some of their star players.

The Scottish side won’t mind Alfredo Morelos giving it his all to impress his suitors this season which in turn will bump up his market value. This way, not only can Rangers have a successful 21/22 season but at the end of it, they can also quote a substantial fee for the Colombian.
