Alisson Becker Liverpool news
Alisson Becker - Liverpool

Liverpool take on Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-final and both Alisson Becker and Trent Alexander-Arnold should be starting on Thursday.

The Brazilian keeper had tested positive two weeks while TAA had also joined this unfortunate list last week. Jurgen Klopp had admitted that the previous week all the COVID results were actually false positives and TAA was the only player who had picked up the virus.

Due to these false-positive cases, the 1st leg of the semi-final had to be postponed which has allowed both these players to make a full and controlled recovery.

The manager told the press: “Trent and Ali trained yesterday. Div and Thiago not. That’s it pretty much.

“Like always in these times, all players, apart from the injured ones or in Africa playing [the] Africa Cup of Nations, who test negative should be available.

“Harvey Elliott looks really promising, out on the pitch – didn’t train with the team yet but I don’t think we are too far away from team training. What he’s doing in the moment looks really good.”

Andy Robertson picked up a slight knock during Liverpool’s FA Cup win in the weekend but Jurgen Klopp has assured that the injury is not serious at all.

The manager added: “Robbo got a little knock in the Shrewsbury game but is fine. I’m not sure if I forgot anybody but the rest are available.”

Alisson Becker and TAA’s return a major boost for Jurgen Klopp?

The unwanted delay of the 1st leg has been a blessing in disguise for the Liverpool manager since almost all the COVID positive players have now returned to the squad.

Fabinho had made a comeback during the weekend and now on Thursday, Alisson Becker along with Alexander-Arnold are also going to make a come back into the fold.

It’s going to be a massive selection boost for the Liverpool manager, more so, since the likes of Salah and Sadio Mane are away on international duty.

Liverpool have been falling behind in the title race which is they need to keep their hopes alive in Europe and the cup competitions. Arsenal had put a really fierce fight against Manchester City in the previous league encounter and we expect the same on Thursday as well. So to get back the services of Alisson Becker and TAA at such a crucial time is a great plus for the German manager.
