Real Madrid have a long-standing interest in Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies who is going to be a free agent at the end of this season but there are increasing fears that the left-back might be on his way to Manchester United.

United’s new manager Ruben Amorim is laying out his new plans at MUFC and according to the latest update from German journalist Christopher Michel, Man United are hopeful of beating Madrid to Davies’ signature.

Recently, there were rumours that Alphonso Davies has agreed to join Los Blancos as a free agent but both Fabrizio Romano and Davies’ agent have made it clear that no such agreement has been reached between the two parties.

Will Man United be able to jump over Real Madrid and sign Alphonso Davies?

Real Madrid have their sights set on the Canadian international for more than a year and even now they are very confident of landing him. However, if United can just offer a sizeable salary package, the Premier League giants should be able to jump the queue without much effort.

Alphonso Davies is holding out for €20 million per year while Bayern Munich are willing to pay his around €13-14 million. So far the defender has rejected multiple approaches from Bayern’s management and most experts think this is primarily because he is not ready to negotiate on the salary terms.

It’s still unclear how much Real Madrid are willing to offer but there are whispers that Manchester United are ready to pay more than Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

If these rumours are true then the choice for Alphonso Davies becomes very simple and it will not be of much harm to Man United either because he will be a free agent after May 2025.

United will start their new adventure under Ruben Amorim and if they can have a good second half to the season it will be a lot easier to convince Alphonso Davies to snub Real Madrid and join them next summer. Both Luke Shaw and Malacia are massively injury-prone and they are yet to play this season which means the left-back position is very much up for grabs under the new head coach.
