It is a known fact that ever since the previous season ended Alvaro Morata was wanting to move out of Real Madrid in order to get more first team action. And it looked as if Manchester United was going to be his next destination.

Reports even suggested that he was so close to joining United that he had actually coloured his hair red as part of the unveiling process. But somehow, it was not meant to be as United eventually signed Romelu Lukaku as a result of which Morata made a move to London in order to join Chelsea.

But now a leading agent has claimed that after Manchester United lost interest in Morata, the Spaniard was close to joining AC Milan in Italy.

The Giuseppe Bozzo who helped Morata move from to Juventus back in 2014 has now claimed that there was interest from both Chelsea as well as AC Milan but the player chose to join Chelsea instead of Milan – partly because of his Juventus connections.

“Was Morata close to Milan? He didn’t mind the idea.” – Bozzo said

“But he chose not to return to Italy – and to go to Chelsea – in part because of Juventus’ fans.

“Alvaro was positively surprised by the affection shown to him by the Bianconeri fans, and it is also because of this that he went for another option.”
